Hatha Vinyasa Yoga
Hatha Vinyasa Yoga has become a very popular style of yoga as it is dynamic and affords plenty of creative liberties to the teachers leading it. Vinyasa means “flow“, specifically from one asana (position) into another. Regularly practicing Hatha Vinyasa Yoga will make you both strong and flexible inside and out. Our teachers also have the awesomest play lists!
Rocket Yoga is a dynamic and fast-paced method of yoga on Ashtanga, but it allows for a little more fun and flexibility. As it takes elements from the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as well as a few asanas from the 3rd and 4th advanced series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, it’s a bit different every time. Trust us, you won’t be bored!
Raja Yoga refers to the "eightfold path" that leads to spiritual liberation. Ancient Sanskrit texts describe Raja Yoga as being the ultimate goal of Yoga practice, rather than the physical and mental exercises involved. This means that it is considered the state of peace and contentment that comes with sustained Yoga practice and meditation.
In our Raja Yoga class, we use physical, emotional, and mental practices as tools that will help as achieve an integral state of Health and Happiness.
Yin and Yang Yoga
Yin and Yang Yoga is a combination of two styles of yoga into one practice. It combines the benefits of yin (passively holding yoga poses) but with the dynamic sequencing and standing postures we associate with vinyasa-styled classes.
This style is meant to help you find your balance and is offered early evenings by lovely candlelight.
The core in yoga can be seen as both a precise physical as well as an energetic space, a place to be worked with both asana and mental attention. A strong core can help you avoid common injuries and will cultivate intelligence and strength beyond the mat. It will protect your organs and help you find the will power you need to lead a life of purpose.
This class lasts 60’ and focuses on strengthening the core (manipura chakra)
Power yoga is a very vigorous type of yoga that methodically synchronizes the breath and gaze through a sequence of postures. Power yoga produces a strong internal heat that detoxifies both muscles and organs for improved circulation, flexibility, a strong body, and a calm mind to accompany it.
Yin yoga is a slower style of modern yoga. Each postures or asana, is held for a longer period of time, anywhere from 45 seconds to five minutes or more. This allows the practitioner to soften the mind and the body, connecting these two in harmony.
Forrest Yoga is a style of Yoga as exercise. It was created by and named for Ana T. Forrest in 1982. It is known for its long holding of positions, emphasis on abdominal core work, and standing series that can go on for 20 poses on each side. Reputed for its intensity, the style emphasizes connecting to one's feelings in order to work through physical and emotional trauma.
Yoga nidra, otherwise known as yogic sleep, is an incredibly intense powerful meditation technique. You will rest comfortably in corpse pose (savasana) while your meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self). You will leave the practice with a deeper sense of wholeness.
